I think the top five had a GREAT race and are in a great position, including Stoner. I'm not going to lie, although I hate the lack of action on his part, he simply did what he had to in order to get the most points as possible. And besides, the top 4 racers were incredibly spaced apart. Two seconds ahead just at the end of the first lap is a bit scary to know. I can live happily with the results for now, but will be annoyed if they turn out this way all the time.
Rossi simply did what he could. In my opinion, the gap was only due to the M1's development. Yamaha didn't make as much of a radical change to the bike like Desmosedici. I hope the rest of the season isn't decided by bike, but right now it's the only good reason to how this race turned out. Stoner won by lapping fast, not by racing. Good job to him like I said, but sooner or later people will want to come see an acutal race. On a more fair note, Rossi had a bad start. Who knows what could've happened if he didn't have to deal with Capirossi and Lorenzo. At the moment, the only way to keep up with Stoner is to have a clear track between you and him with perfect lapping. Anyway, 2nd for Rossi is keeping him on pace for the championship.
Lorenzo did a superb job. First he has a major rookie debut, then he has to change tyres and adjust to them in a short preseason. Sure, the gap between him and Rossi was bigger than the Rossi-Stoner gap, but he's holding very well.
Colin has never dissapointed since the preseason. Talk about a strong Yamaha finish. Perhaps the 'equal bike' thing is working out well, or Guy Colon really made that much of a difference. Congrats to him, and honestly I'm most fond of his result. There's a swarm of merciless riders on the grid and he managed to size up with the satellite bike. Colin always improves more than drops back.
Dovi surprised me most. I really didn't think he had it all together since most news on the website hints he's not 100% sure with his bike yet. He managed to get away from the supposedly-dangerous de Angelis. Dovi's post-race comments suggest he's really analytical with what's going on. Congrats for he taking the top Honda spot.
Suzuki didn't have the debut they were hoping. Chris managed a decent 7th but both riders found inconsistencies with their bikes - which is a bad thing. Anyone can blame the weather, but everyone on the grid had to deal with it so Suzuki is taking it hard. Shame Capirossi couldn't pull up any points. He was doing very well in the race.
Pedrosa had a terrible race. I don't think he'd care about the collision with de Angelis if he wasn't injured. But I think de Angelis was feeling a little too ahead of himself in the race. He's had a strong pre-season, and so good job to him. As for Pedrosa…I really hope he can get himself together. Like 4 parts of his body are broken.
Hayden, Melandri, and Gibernau had some sad races being that they were old-time favorites. They all have the same issue with having a lack of seat time. The D16 is a hard bike to learn on and Hayden was riding injured. Melandri only had half a preseason to learn his new Kawasaki, and Sete simply hasn't been on a GP bike in years -not to mention Sete has never raced an 800cc bike..
Kallio was probably the only other racer I'd highlight. Coming from 250cc, he really got a hang of things with the short test time, even though he just beat a bunch of riders who had injury or bike problems.
I think Qatar didn't do most riders justice. The unexpected delay, numerous injuries, bike issues, and lack of test time made things a bit twisted. Only the top 4 looked right….in my opinion. Great race though for the 5. They really have good things going for them.

lately you may have noticed I make new threads about the next race. BE FREE to add your input. no one's wrong here….unless they like Stoner =P
Anyway, Misano may be another marker for the 2008 season, as it my shut out Stoner who's odds of retireing are high again and may be behind as much as 75 points. In fact, the championship may or may not surely be Rossi's depending on how the rest of the sessions go. I say this because if Stoner's injury is serious, he'll may screw up this race, miss the next race, and ride like complete **** and fall behind Pedrosa. I'm not sure if it's his right or left hand, but either way, riding at the top with an injury ain't going to be easy. He'd have to give up close battles.
At the back of my head, Stoner may be full of ****. How the hell is he going that fast? Is he trying to make us think he's got better skills than Rossi with a broken hand?
If his injury turns out a disaster, then Rossi indeed has the championship, but I wouldn't celebrate it since Rossi doens't need to fight for it anymore. I'd only reflect on this season with Rossi's god-awesome Laguna performance and Lorenzo's nice rookie start.
As for the other riders, I can tell Melandri is thinking “yeah **** Ducati…” and Repsol Honda looks like they're re-organizing and aimed more for 2009 title contending. I'd think that right now they're just trying to stay solid. Gresini is doing great in my opinion, but I'm hoping Nakano will break top 5. Alice is poorly performing just above Melandri, making 3 out of 4 Ducati's in the lower ranks.
+I think most fortunes will change since riders are still new to the track, but not Anthony West, because he's riding like garbage everyday. =/
I'm not a total Dovizioso fan, but I'm greatly anticipating his second year. I read his current article and it seems like he's got a quicker rate of understanding things than a lot of riders.
I think it's clear that Stoner is overly-reliant on his Ducati Desmosedici TCS08 as he can go that fast with an injury. Top riders following Rossi and Stoner are a good set. Colin DEFINATELY is one to watch. He's the most successful SBK rider and he's on Michelins. I'm never dissapointed with Loris and can't help but notice his success outside of Ducati.
But as for Rossi today, he's doing amazing. Although all race practices are looking repetitive with him second and Stoner 1st, we have to understand that this is the “aging” champ, needed to work with comepletely new tires, riding on an obsolete inline 4 engine, and the guy who's had enough bike breakdowns last year to probably buy a new house haha. No one can touch the Stoner's Ducati becuase god knows what, and Rossi's doing the absolute best he can. He's really giving no space to mess up and that level of focus is amazing. Despite Pedrosa's injuries and Nicky's pneu-engine misfortunes, Repsol Honda should've eaten Rossi alive this year and they never even touched him much when they were running perfectly.
